Now, if you're thinking to yourself, "Noooo, Chadwick got after me for eating my lunch in there one time," well... okay, you maybe have a point. The pizza-eating *is* reserved for special occasions. But still: free pizza, guys!
Do you like pizza, book discussions, and meeting authors?
Starting in October, join Ms. Brown-Powell and the Books 'R Us book club after school on every other Monday in the East Library Reading Room. There are a lot of great books on the club's list this year, including Children of Blood and Bone, Trevor Noah's Born a Crime, and The 57 Bus. We'll also be having author visits (and/or Skype sessions) and even a private screening of the upcoming film "The Hate U Give," based on Angie Thomas's book (which Books 'R Us read last year). Questions? Pop into East Library, stop by the Books 'R Us table at next week's activity fair, or email Mrs. Brown-Powell.
LINCOLN BOOK AWARD PROGRAM
Do you like pizza, books, and/or the Chicago Cubs?
This year will be ETHS's third year participating in The Lincoln Book Award Program, which is a statewide program designed to encourage high school students to read. Participation is super easy: all you have to do is read the nominated books and then check in with one of the library staff. Read just one and you get invited to our "Pizza & Previews" party in March. Read just four and you not only qualify to vote on which book should win the state's award, but at ETHS you ALSO get entered into a raffle for two FREE Cubs tickets. Read more than four of the nominees and you get more raffle entries AND additional prizes. Questions? Check out the ETHS Lincoln Book Award page, pop into East Library, or email Mrs. Chadwick.
