- The Abraham Lincoln Award is a statewide program designed to encourage high school students to read and become familiar with authors.
- Each year a committee made up of librarians and students puts together a list of twenty nominees. This list can include both adult and young adult fiction, nonfiction, and graphic novels.
- It is awarded annually to the nominated book which earns the highest number of votes cast *exclusively* by Illinois high school students.
- In order to vote, you only have to read FOUR of the nominated titles. (Voting ends in mid-March, with a winner announced at the end of the month.)
- Students who are eligible to vote will be invited to a voting/pizza-eating party at the beginning of March (exact date TBD) AND be entered into a raffle to win two FREE tickets to see your WORLD SERIES CHAMPION CHICAGO CUBS!
- Once you have finished reading a book, check in with one of the librarians so that your name (and which nominees you’ve read) can be added to the list of participants.
- Though you only need to read four books in order to vote, reading more qualifies you for additional prizes, including candy, free books, gift cards, and more chances to win those Cubs tickets!
