- The Margaret A. Edwards Award for lifetime achievement in writing for young adults was awarded to Tamora Pierce, author of many novels including Tortall and Other Lands, The Realms of the Gods, Wild Magic, the "Protector of the Small" series (First Test, Page, Squire, and Lady Knight), and the "Trickster" duo (Trickster's Choice and Trickster's Queen)
