Crank, and A Child Called It all have in common?
Answer: They're all Abraham Lincoln Readers' Choice Book Award Winners!
- The Abraham Lincoln Award program is a program designed to encourage high school students to read and become familiar with authors.
- Each year a selection committee made up of both librarians and students puts together a list of 20 nominees for the award. This list can include both adult and young adult fiction, nonfiction, and graphic novels.
- It is awarded annually to the nominated book which earns the highest number of votes cast *exclusively* by Illinois high school students.
- Students who wish to participate only have to read FOUR of the nominated titles in order to vote. (Voting ends in mid-March, with a winner announced at the end of the month.)
- Once you have finished reading a book, check in with one of the librarians so that your name (and which nominees you’ve read) can be added to the list of participants.
- Students who are eligible to vote will be invited to a voting/pizza-eating party at the beginning of March (exact date TBD).
- Though students only need to read four books in order to vote, reading more qualifies them for additional prizes, including candy, free books, and gift certificates!
This year's selections are fantastic, if we do say so ourselves.
