The GLSEN Day of Silence is a student-led national event that brings attention to anti-LGBT name-calling, bullying and harassment in schools. Students from middle school to college take a vow of silence in an effort to encourage schools and classmates to address the problem of anti-LGBT behavior by illustrating the silencing effect of bullying and harassment on LGBT students and those perceived to be LGBT. You can visit GLSEN's Day of Silence website for more information about Day of Silence and the organization.
The mission of ETHS is clearly outlined on our website: Embracing its diversity, ETHS dedicates itself to educating all students to their fullest potential. To that end, our libraries make an effort to provide literature which represents that diversity, both in our fiction and nonfiction collections. The lists provided below represent just some of the literature representing the LGBTQIA experience that is available for students and staff in both Michael Library and Central Library.
